E3 2021: Little Witch in the Woods heading to Xbox Game Pass

Little Witch in the Woods is launching on the Xbox Game Pass service on Day 1 along with a release on the Nintendo Switch and Steam. The Sunny Side Up developed title recently found a publisher in SK Telecom’s game division.

Indie game Little Witch in the Woods has caught attention for a remarkable art style reminiscent of NIS classics like Disgaea and its own The Witch and the Hundred Knight series. The upcoming RPG title follows apprentice witch Ellie Blueriver as she experiences the daily life of witch school… Including assisting local village residents and all that entails.

Originally, South Korean developer Sunny Side Up was intending to release the game for PC & Mac on Steam stateside. But the visuals & art style of this modern retro, pixel based game pique the interest of SK Telecom’s game division.

Now a deal is in place to bring Little Witch in the Woods’ release date and its addition on Xbox Game Pass in sync with each other. Meaning, you’ll be able to play Little Witch in The Woods on Day 1 on your Xbox Series X/S console. Just look at the aesthetic artwork of the lights below:

The life sim genre has been steadily gaining popularity throughout the years with indie game developers, Stardew Valley being one of its breakthrough successes on consoles.

You’ll be able to form a true witches’ bond with your cat in the game. The game promises the two will share an “inseparable bond”, and every cat you find in the wild will have a different personality.

They may choose to spend every day with you depending on how you communicate with them. Surely, trials and tribulations will follow for the young witch in training at LUCEREIN ORTU. If Ellie, the apprentice witch, completes her training at each local Witch House… She’ll become a formal witch!

Little Witch in the Woods originally began development back in 2019 before being showcased in 2020’s indie game showcase Wholesome Direct.

The title was initially only meant for release on PC by Sunny Side Up games’ two man team. Obviously, SK Telecom taking the reins as publisher has changed that, with a Little Witch in the Woods Switch port now in the works.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers will have their Little Witch in the Woods download ready on Day 1 of course. The Game Pass service is rapidly improving monthly.

On E3 Day 2, Microsoft’s Xbox division announced Sega will be bringing Yakuza: Like A Dragon to Game Pass.
