This Lopez vs Lopez Episode 12 review and recap contains spoilers for “Lopez vs Appropriation”.
When Chance wants to go to ‘farm camp,’ George goes behind his daughter Mayan’s back and cuts a deal with culture appropriating businesswoman Jana (Caroline Rhea).
Mayan is absolutely steamed at her father. Prior, she had backed out of a prior deal with Jana after she had branded the doggie beds under Clint Eastwood’s character names (Dirty Harry)… And gave Mayan no mention. Comparing her work to employees making Adidas shoes, “It still says Adidas on the shoe, not the name of the worker who named it.”
Mayan mentions George stays at her house rent free and is unhoused without her. Which acts as a later plot point… She questions how George can even make the doggie beds without her involvement.
In one of the funniest scenes of Lopez vs Lopez Season 1, George reveals his own Mexican workshop in his truck. With five minute lunch breaks for workers. In Momo’s case, he didn’t finish have enough time to finish his sandwich! George grabbed the sandwich right out of Momo’s hands and told him to get back to work.
George Lopez is initially ecstatic at the money rolling in… Until Chance complains the children at the school are saying they’re a poor family now.
George discovers Jana was selling the beds with a photo tag of his face, promising donations will go to house him. Thus, George realizes Mayan was right about Jana after all.
A worker’s strike led by Momo begins at his doorstep, conveniently in time to shut down the whole business.
Meanwhile, Quinten implores Rosie to dump all La Hoya products out of the house. Informing her that La Hoya’s CEO made a Tweet offending 18 latin cultures.
Rosie is entirely resistant the idea… Fearing having to eat Quinten’s bland food without spices. But she relents as Quinten promises they’ll figure out how to make her favorite salts together.
The pair end up really enjoying the experiment. Not so subtly looking for other offending tweets to continue their work in the kitchen.
