This Lopez vs Lopez Episode 14 recap contains spoilers for “Lopez vs Work”.
George surprises Mayan and Rosie as an employee at the local Apple store where Quinten works. Mayan is beside herself, mentioning her father once thought an ‘iPad was part of her feminine products.’
But George doesn’t stop there! Getting a third job with Oscar at Fatburger.
Mayan becomes concerned when she sees George falling asleep at the refrigerator. But George doesn’t back down, and speaking about getting a fourth or maybe even fifth job. He says they should call Generation Z “Generation Lazy”!
Mayan tries to convince both her parents to take a day off of work. George responds that if he was the almighty himself, he would have worked that seventh day and made a new churro recipe.
George and Rosie then lead a song about why Mexicans believing in the power of work. George delivers the line of the episode, “Feeling like you want to end it all? Go sell pretzels at the mall!”
Nevertheless, George and Rosie agree to take a day off if Mayan promises to get a second job.
George and Rosie are bored out of their minds on their day off, going through pure work withdrawals.
Rosie doesn’t know what to do with all their free time, and George brings up having s-e-x. Which Rosie says would “count as work for her!”
Momo is taken aback while doing George’s laundry (“delicates”), when Quinten tells him George went to hang out with Oscar instead. This leads to a classic physical comedy moment where Momo wipes his tears with George’s boxers.
Momo and Oscar stay in George’s truck for the week and begin arguing over who his real best friend truly is! Soon they start talking about their actual work on Lopez Movers and how they haven’t been paid by George in months.
George had told them he sees both more as friends than employees. Thus, not paying them! This leads to an uprising.
Both Momo and Oscar tell George they’re no longer besties, and they know he’s been cheating them out of a wage. George responds instinctively with “You think you’re better than me?!”
George admits the truth… The moving business hasn’t been doing well, but he’s found an investor!
That investor is Rosie, who is moved by George confessing he’s been getting other jobs in fear of his moving business collapsing. In turn, Mayan decides she wants to go to vet school and do what she really loves too. Instead of continuing to do work at a job she doesn’t feel passion for.
George and Rosie say that means she’s going back to do more work and so they win their work debate, high-fiving!
When Momo and Oscar realize Rosie is the new investor, they start offering their home services like laundry.
In a funny but kind of dark flashback credits scene, Oscar comes to a job interview for George. He’s educated, well mannered, and in Rosie’s words “smells like tooth paste, hire this man!”
George starts the job interview by asking Oscar if he’s an undercover cop… Then asking if he knows ‘Mari’.
Oscar is confused, and George offers ‘a way to lower a few points off his IQ’. Oscar gets his first ‘hit’ from ‘Mari’ and becomes his current self.
