Here’s a full review of the ‘Himouto! Umaru-chan R’ Complete Collection Dub Blu-ray including high resolution photos & videos of what’s in the Sentai Filmworks release.
This Himouto! Umaru-chan R Complete Collection Dub Blu-ray Review contains minor spoilers for the anime series.
On the Discs – Art Closeup:
Disc 1 of Sentai’s Himouto! Umaru-chan R Complete Collection Blu-ray features Kirie Motoba and Umaru Doma as the lead art.
* Kirie is (not so secretly) semi-obsessed with Umaru and is creating a children’s storybook with Umaru as the lead character throughout the season.
Disc 2 features Hikari Kongo and Umaru Doma as the lead art.
* Hikari first appears in episode 7 of this Blu-ray (officially Season 2 Episode 7) and acts as a semi-rival to Umaru for her brother Taihei’s attention.
Himouto! Umaru-chan R English Dub Voice Cast Review
The standout dub voice actress of this collection is easily Emily Neves of The Future Diary fame, who voices Umaru Doma here. The fun ‘kawaii’ cuteness of Umaru Doma is a polar opposite to Neves’ frantic flow as Minene Uryuu.
Neves vocal range is strong as usual, switching between Umaru’s three ‘personalities’ (outdoor, indoor, UMR) on a dime.
You’ll easily recognize Sentai staple voice actress Christina Kelly as the blue-haired Sylphynford Tachibana. Playing a much less maniac, toned down version of Golden Time’s Kouko Kaga but less serious than Real Girl’s Iroha Igarashi.
It seems Christina Kelly is the go-to voice actress for ‘valley girl’ sounding, rich upper class, and excitable characters.
Sara Ornelas as Nana Ebina notable here, a soft reserved, nervous vocal approach compared to No Game No Life’s outgoing Stephanie Dola. It’s also one of Sara’s last dubbing roles in anime outside of a minor role in Pokémon in 2019.
Jad Saxton of Akiba’s Trip voices Kirie Matoba and the character ranges between nervously squeamish, to infatuated, to raging against her brother Takeshi (Jason Douglas). Kira Vincent-Davis was casted well as Umaru’s foil as Hikari Kongō, vying for her brother Taihei’s attention.
Taihei Doma himself is voiced by Adam Noble, and is a fairly regular straightforward all knowing, responsible brother vocal type. Solid but not particularly unique in delivery.
Kyle Colby Jones is the English Dub ADR director for Himouto! Umaru-chan R and previously directed shows like Food Wars!, No Game No Life, Made in Abyss, and Monster Musume. Doga Kobo is the animation studio behind Himouto! Umaru-chan R.
After Inserting Blu-ray Disc 1
You’ll see a HIDIVE advertisement and Sentai’s logo before the Blu-ray selection menu launches on both discs. They were both unskippable on the PlayStation 5 player we watched this on. Disc 1 features Episodes #1-9 and Language switch options (English Dubbed or Subbed).
Umaru Doma’s original Japanese voice actress, Aimi Tanaka, sings the vocals to the intro theme song used across the Blu-rays menus on Discs 1 and 2.
The menu (and intro) theme song is named “Nimensei☆Ura Omote Life!“.
Did you Know?: The ending theme song of Season 2, “Umarun Taisou” is sung by each of the original Japanese voice actresses for the characters.
They are Aimi Tanaka (Umaru Doma), Yurina Furukawa (Sylphynford Tachibana), Akari Kageyama (Nana Ebina), and Haruka Shiraishi as Kirie Motoba. Both opening and ending theme songs are especially catchy and will likely get stuck in your head at some point.
The language menu screen gives you the option to switch between the English Dub and original Japanese voice cast with English subtitles.
Intro Theme Song Alternates Between Full English Translation & Romaji
The subtitles to the intro theme alternate between full English translations and phonetic Japanese to English Romaji.
This seems to switch every episode. It is worth mentioning that occasionally if you repeatedly rewind, the subtitles will vanish, giving you a clean opening intro. However, it’s not necessary to rewind just for that as a ‘Clean Opening Animation’ option is available in Disc 2 in the Special Features.
After Inserting Blu-ray Disc 2
Disc 2 of the Himouto! Umaru-chan R Dub Blu-ray includes episodes #10 through #12, a Special Features section, and a Language Switch Menu (English Dubbed or Subbed).
The Special Features section includes a Clean Opening Animation (no subtitles or crew credits), Clean Ending Animation, Promos for Other Sentai Anime titles, and Disc Credits.
Much like Disc 1, you can switch between watching the English dubbed and subbed Himouto! Umaru-chan R.
The ‘Also Available’ Sentai promos section includes trailers for titles like ‘Teasing Master Takagi-san‘.

Conclusion: 5 out of 5 stars for the Blu-ray video quality and the series itself. Himouto! Umaru-chan R is a fun, relaxing anime and Emily Neves does a great job dub wise as Umaru Doma. Particularly, the personality of ‘indoors’ Umaru, who’s endearing laziness and breaking of all her brother’s rules never ceases being entertaining.
Umaru’s passionate fandom of video games, anime, and manga is sure to make fans of those entertainment mediums feel connected.
The Himouto! Umaru-chan R dub collection is currently discounted for $41.99 (discounted from $59.98) on Sentai.
* The Blu-ray collection’s runtime is 300 minutes.
Review Score: 5 out of 5 stars
