Recap: Barry reveals the $250,000 he gave Gene Cousineau under duress to Jim Moss. NoHo Hank steals the show, “Sold, Add to cart” on “a nice meal”.

This Barry Season 4 Episode 7 recap & review contains spoilers for “a nice meal”.

Jim Moss places a virtual reality headset of sorts on Barry’s head where he sees visions of his son John and Gene Cousineau to start episode 7. He’s about to torture Barry, selecting his favorite tool when Barry starts apologizing to Gene and mentions giving him $250,000 which stops Jim in his tracks.

Moss questions Barry about it and hatches a scheme we wouldn’t know the full extent of until the end of the episode.

Gene is reeled back in from his virtuous position against the Hollywood studios… When an ‘agent’ calls him about Daniel Day Lewis wanting to come out of retirement to play him in the Berkman biopic! Unable to put ego aside, Gene agrees to meet the agent.

However, Gene receives a chance call from Sally Reed asking (almost pleading) to be picked up at the airport. Despite, knowing it would be the right thing to pick Sally up, Gene says he has to go to a meeting. Telling Sally to go to his house address instead.

In person, the agent informs Gene that Mark Wahlberg is interested in playing Barry. But is apprehensive on the role, so Gene soothes over fears calling Barry a “sympathetic soul”. Knowing that the studios will start a bidding war on the biopic with Wahlberg attached.

In reality, there is no Mark Wahlberg or Daniel Day Lewis attached to the project. It was all a scheme by Jim Moss to accuse Gene of using Barry to murder his daughter.

Moss believes Gene manipulated and exploited Barry’s sensibilities towards Gene as a father figure to get him to commit the act. That it was all about the money for Gene.

NoHo Hank selects commando ops hilariously like an Amazon shopping cart, “Sold, Add to cart” to eliminate Fuches. Only to have their heads returned in boxes to his office.

Hank decides to do the job himself with a rocket launcher but misses his first shot. Then discovers there are no more rockets due to his request to “watch the budget”. Exclaiming “I was talking about office supplies!” Hank narrowly escapes and decides to lore Barry in by kidnapping his son John and Sally Reed.

Big move by Sally just prior when she decides to turn herself in to a police officer… Only to find out it’s one of Hank’s men. You can definitively see where her mind was at after she told John that they would return to their old lives after speaking to Gene.

Hank calls Barry from Sally’s phone and tells him where to go if he wants to see them ever again…

Barry Season 4 Episode 7 Review: It’s excellent! Top tier acting all around, full of hilarious moments and dramatic plot twists. One of Season 4’s best.
