Dead City Episode 1 Highlight: The Croat cuts zip line rope

Imagine your panic free falling from an NYC skyscraper rapidly into the ground. Your zip line to freedom cut halfway by The Croat. Heart rate racing uncontrollably, last images flashing before your eyes, no way to undo your mistake. A grand escape morphing into a tumble down to your final moments on this Earth.

On episode 1 of Dead City, the Croat teases a prisoner by ordering his henchmen to stand down and allow an attempt at a daring escape. Only to personally chop his wings out of the air midway.

A chance at freedom reduced to primal level entertainment for the Croat. The ultimate delusional mirage for the prisoner out of a predetermined fate.

In reality, there was never a way out. The very moment the prisoner decided to rush up to the top of that building, his destiny was sealed on the pavement below.

Note: Rick Grimes is not mentioned by name on Dead City Season 1. Although Rick is partially alluded to when Negan retells the tale of Sanctuary in a kind of recap.
