Better Call Saul Season 6 Episode 1 “Wine and Roses”

Hector Salamanca receives a phone call from his nephew Lalo Salamanca towards the end of episode 1 “Wine and Roses”. Lalo discusses his home south of the border being attacked and his wish to get revenge on the ‘chicken man’ Gustavo Fring. Hector however, is beside himself at the suggestion Lalo drive back up North hastily for rushed vengeance, ringing his bell several times.

Hector’s nurse actually answers the phone herself, commenting that Lalo’s uncle is very upset. Lalo calmly requests his Tío be put back on the phone and the nurse obliges. Lalo has Hector spell out what he thinks is a better plan with his bell, “Proof”.

At first, Lalo believes there is no proof that would satisfy the family about Gus Fring being behind the hit on his life. Lalo comments he fully checked out the Los Pollos Hermanos business prior and the operation was clean.

However, Lalo soon realizes Nacho Varga is all the proof he needs, leaving Hector with a smile on his face. Lalo would place a bounty on Nacho’s head and send the twin cousins, Leonel and Marco Salamanca after Varga.

Better Call Saul Season 6 Episode 2 (“Carrot and Stick”)

In Episode 2, “Carrot and Stick”, Gustavo Fring arrives with Juan Bolsa to Hector’s nursing home to express ‘grief’ over Lalo Salamanca’s supposed passing. Fring says “Despite their differences, they are all Don Eladio’s men today”.

Fring then puts his hand out and surprisingly Hector reaches back for the handshake. Hector looks at Fring right in the eyes and smiles. This leads Fring to believe that Lalo is still alive. Gustavo Fring immediatley calls Mike Ehrmantraut to inform him that Lalo is out there, unusually uneasy.
