Yesterday, the third dubbed season of Food Wars! was announced to be premiering stateside on Toonami on February 27 at its usual time of 1 am EST. Those who have already watched the third season dubbed via VRV and HIDIVE’s streaming services however, are obviously hungry for more! No doubt, the fourth season announcement by Crunchyroll is a highly welcome February surprise.
Although the series has officially concluded in Japan, perhaps there’s potential for more Food Wars! down the line if demand continues to grow. During Anime NYC 2019, fans lined up two hours early to see the simulcast of the latest subbed episode of Food Wars! The Fourth Plate.
The fanbase for Soma Yukihira, Erina Nakiri, and the entire gang of chefs has only expanded since then. Numbers are the main driver of a show and if the viewership today for example is big, expect a potential reorientation on the conclusion of Food Wars!
A full reboot with another lead or a straight up new season with the same cast of characters is not out of the question should the numbers hold. Anime is still a business after all. No creator likes leaving money out on the table unless its a certainty it’ll damage the brand’s integrity.
