THE NATURAL ARISTOCRAT [NIR REGEV]: Sakura flees the hostess club in Dreams on Fire after a customer reveals her past work in the adult video industry. Seemingly uncomfortable. Have you ever felt like Sakura at some point in your career or is there no connection?
Director Philippe McKie mentioned quite a few cast members are loosely playing themselves in a way. My take was that unexpectedly revealing secrets from someone’s past leaves them more vulnerable & naked than any picture or video will ever be.
OKUDA SAKI: As I work on adult videos with pride, I have no problem making it public. However, there are some people who don’t regard it as a good job, so I’m super careful when I meet such people.
THE NATURAL ARISTOCRAT: Have you ever had a boss like the one portrayed by Masahiro Takashima in Dreams on Fire?
OKUDA SAKI: I’ve never met a boss like the one in the film. There are no such circumstances or events around me, but I think that kind of things happen more than a little. It’s very sad.
THE NATURAL ARISTOCRAT: Director Philippe McKie told me he first met you after a theatre performance of yours. What was it about the character of Sakura that captivated you to take the role in Dreams on Fire?
OKUDA SAKI: Since he is a director who is actively working overseas, I thought that the film would be a little different from the one produced in Japan, so I was very interested and decided to perform in it.
THE NATURAL ARISTOCRAT: Thanks Okuda!
OKUDA SAKI: Thank you!
