Mayan Lopez wants the Quinceañera she never had after George & Rosie divorced… All under the guise of it being for her dog Churro. Meanwhile, Oscar finds his dream girl in Gina (Lidia Porto) on ‘Lopez vs Lopez’ Episode 17.

What is a ‘Quinces’? : Quinces refers to a ‘Quinceañera’, a celebration of a girl’s 15th birthday widely celebrated in Latin America. It represents a milestone into womanhood.

Mayan discovers her female dog Churro is suffering from hearing loss going into her fifteenth birthday. In turn, Mayan decides to hold an extravagant Quinceañera for Churro. An event she dually hopes will assist shelter dogs with being adopted.

George and Rosie are lukewarm on the idea, reminding Mayan she even declined to have her own Quinceañera.
Mayan however, lets Rosie know she means business. Prompting, a scared Rosie to immediatley agree to the idea and tell George, “She really is being Extra about this!”

Meanwhile, Quinten and Brookie try to find Oscar a soul mate. Quinten feels Oscar relies too much on George for social interaction and needs a life that doesn’t depend on him.
However, Oscar feels none of the women at Mayan’s animal veterinarian clinic are right for him. Mentioning, “George wouldn’t want to hang out with any of them!”

Squabbling between Rosie and George leads Mayan to call the Quinces off completely. The former married couple go to check on Mayan to find her in a Quinceañera dress, crying.
Mayan confesses she only cancelled her own Quinceañera because she was devastated George and Rosie were getting separated as a teenager. Elaborating that their current fighting reminded her of how they were pre-divorce.

George, Rosie, and Quinten decide to surprise Mayan with the Quinceañera she always wanted at a church.

Mayan smiles from ear to ear, as she celebrates Churro’s Quinceañera vicariously as her own.

During the party, Oscar introduces his ’11 out of 10′ to his ‘7’, Gina! Resembling a female version of George Lopez right down to the mannerisms.
In fact, both Gina and George bond over their shared love of beer before Rosie takes their drinks. “No drinking at Church!” Both exclaim, “I never get to do nothin’!”

The costume and set designer deserve kudos for Episode 17, it’s an impressive Disney-like sight. Great visually aesthetic work by series costume designer Elizabeth Bass.
