Luka Doncic is averaging 35 ppg, 9 dimes, and 8.5 boards through the first two games of this first round playoff series. Doncic even got an emphatic dunk to start off the first quarter last game, payback for Kawhi’s dunk on Maxi Kleber in Game 1. Speaking of Kleber, who’s had a great series for the Mavericks, he’s listed as questionable for tonight’s game. However, it’s likely he’ll play if cleared with his right achilles soreness.
Doncic will have more freedom to go to work in the post and shoot the fadeaway or pass it to Tim Hardaway Jr. for the catch and shoot 3. Luka certainly liked the matchup against Paul George last game, scoring two 3-pointers and a post up fadeaway over him.
Clippers center Serge Ibaka has officially been ruled out of tonight’s playoff game due to a lingering back issue. He was previously a game-time call. His shot blocking absence will open up the lanes tonight for the Mavericks. Perhaps, DeMarcus Cousins will finally receive extended minutes on the Clippers?
If the Mavericks take this game at home tonight, the series is almost a close. No team has ever come back down 0-3 in the NBA to win the series. Although Z-Bo’s Trail Blazers pushed a game 7 in 2003 against Nowitzki’s Mavericks. Trailing on the road in the NBA Playoffs is always an uphill battle.
