This Frasier Episode 6 recap contains spoilers for episode “Blind Date”.
June (whose real life name actually is June) shows up at Frasier’s door while he’s setting the mood in the true Crane spirit. Elegant music and Italian food cooking on the stove. June’s sophisticated knowledge of the arts delight Frasier to no end.
He momentarily worries when she asks for boxed wine, before realizing June is joking. A calming relief then washes over Frasier.
But a new challenger appears in Frasier’s own son Freddy. While Frasier is busy in the kitchen, Freddy and June seemingly hit it off talking about the Boston Red Sox. Soon enough Frasier and Freddy realize their match made in heaven on their living room couch is the same woman!
They’re unable to reach Eve about which Crane boy this blind date is meant for, as she’s busy performing… Thus, a verbal joust begins between Frasier and Freddy to win June’s heart.
• Side Story: lan Cromwell and Olivia Finch are ‘forced’ to sit through the amateur theatre production Eve is working on. Cromwell remarks in true Frasier fashion that ‘the whole setting is unrealistic because the Butler is wearing gloves’.
• More University Digs: Olivia Finch comments that Dartmouth is the Bronze medal of universities this episode. Freddy had spoken of being ‘set up with a dud’ just prior, who Eve recalled had won a Bronze medal at the Olympics!
Back to the blind date, Frasier and Freddy try to elegantly navigate the situation at hand. First by asking June who her celebrity crush, leading to Frasier imagining himself to be like Kevin Costner. And then by seeing which side of the couch she sits on!
Much to their disappointment, June squeezes between the two of them and does not pick one particular ominous armrest. A woman closer to Frasier’s age (Annie Abbott) shows up at the door as a tease to be the second blind date, but it’s actually Eve’s babysitter Ida! A classic moment.
Freddy overhears a conversation between June and her friend, that though she’d been setup with him… She was actually growing infatuated with his father.
Freddy becomes depressed about his dating difficulties, leading Frasier to go into dad mode and comfort him. However, Freddy decides to bow out and let Frasier and June be together.
Then Siobhan knocks on the door, and immediatley introduces herself as Frasier’s date. Siobhan is an opera singer and she brought Sherry.
Frasier is beside himself and tells Freddy he should take out June for dinner and they should stick to Eve’s original intended dates for the two of them. Frasier promises a big screen TV to Freddy if he takes June out.
June and Siobhan overhear the ‘bribe’ and decide to go out for drinks alone. Frasier apologies for the misunderstanding, mentioning that Siobhan had been late… Before delivering one of the best lines of the Frasier reboot!
• Line of the episode: “But there’s one thing I want to clear up… You both wanted me. Still got it!” – Frasier Crane
