You may scale the whole image proportionally, keeping its exact aspect ratio. For example, you may reduce a 2,048-pixel-wide file to 800 pixels wide, so it is smaller but never stretched, squeezed, or cropped.

Cropping, retouching, recoloring, filtering, enhancing, upscaling, compositing, editing with any artificial-intelligence or machine-learning tool, and any other alteration are not permitted, and the embedded metadata must remain intact.

Pricing depends on the photograph and the intended use, and is therefore quoted per inquiry. Fees are scaled to the scope of the use: its purpose, its placement, the size of its audience, its territory, and its duration.

The same photograph is therefore priced differently at different scales. A publication of national reach licenses at a higher fee than a small personal site, in proportion to the value each use receives. This is the standard practice of photography licensing.

A further article, a second post, another page or platform, a new edition, or a renewed period is each a distinct use. No, not under the earlier license. A license is specific to the placement it names: one web address, one platform, one medium. Use anywhere else is a different use, and it requires its own separate license before it is made.

That is so for another website or domain, another social account or platform, and another medium altogether. A license for a website, for example, does not permit use in a newspaper, magazine, book, television program, or film: each medium requires its own license.

Inquiries are answered by email, ordinarily within a few business days, with terms and a quotation for the intended use.

Use of a photograph beyond a license, or without one, constitutes copyright infringement.

Unauthorized use is assessed at the rate for the use actually made. An unauthorized Commercial Use, such as a billboard, is assessed at the commercial value of that use, even though no commercial license is offered for sale. The infringer pays for the use actually taken, not for any narrower use it could have bought.

The recovery is whichever of three amounts is greatest. The first is five times the license fee that would have applied to that use. The second is actual damages together with the infringer’s profits. The third, for a registered photograph, is statutory damages of up to $150,000 per photograph for willful infringement.

Attorneys’ fees and costs are recoverable in addition.

Removing or altering the credit or the embedded metadata, or publishing a copy stripped of them, adds separate statutory damages of $2,500 to $25,000 per violation. A license obtained afterwards covers only use going forward; it does not absolve the prior infringement.

Viewing. A pass unlocks the gallery, video, or channel it names, on the site, for the access window stated at purchase, for you alone. A pass is a one-time purchase, not a subscription: one payment, one stated window, no renewal.

Aristocrat+, the site’s membership, is different. It is a recurring subscription, billed by the platform you subscribed through until you cancel, and it provides ad-free reading and the content designated for members.

Paid access is not a license: it conveys no right to download, save, screenshot, record, or republish anything it makes viewable, and no right to show a stream or video to an audience. Licensing works the same as always, terms and a quote by inquiry.

Access starts immediately and is consumed on delivery, so a pass is non-refundable from purchase. Sharing a pass, or the account or link that carries it, forfeits it without refund.

The written record of your license. It identifies the photograph, the permitted use, the term, the territory, and the fee, and it carries a unique number in the form CONF-YYYY-0000.

Together with the License Terms it forms the entire agreement for that license. Keep it. It is the document that proves what you licensed, and its number is what the verification page checks.
